Fireworks in the Medieval City

A unique and grandiose show! Fired from the medieval city, Carcassonne’s fireworks display is the must-see event in the world, attracting hundreds of thousands of people every year. Now one of the most famous and beautiful fireworks displays in France, it has been lighting up the city’s skies every year since 1898. Come and experience this extraordinary and unforgettable show.
The show is filled with the hottest pyrotechnics: golden rain, butterflies and swirls, hearts and smileys, palm trees, strobe stars, and much more…! The fireworks go off at around 10.30pm, but we recommend arriving at least 2 hours beforehand.
A sensational show featuring 16 tableaux for 25 minutes of pleasure. This pyrotechnic spectacle will offer an unforgettable visual experience and is inspired by the core values of the Games: excellence, friendship, respect, and the celebration of unity in diversity.
On the program for this July 14 evening:
6pm – Place Carnot: concert by Guy LACROUXwith his accordion and orchestra to open the ball before the fire.
10:30 pm: Fireworks from the Medieval City
11pm – Place Carnot: Concert by the band SLICE who will take you to the dancefloor with international hits from the 80s and 90s.
The town has chosen to offer an eco-responsible fireworks display that respects environmental standards. The Carcassonne fireworks are :
- Zero plastic, Zero aluminium waste
- Progressive cannon shots fired before the fireworks begin, to warn wildlife of an event and enable them to leave or take shelter before the first fireworks are launched.
- Zero heavy metal fallout in the chemical composition of selected fireworks
